Designing a 40-Year Legacy Experience

A story-driven anniversary webpage for Champions Centre.

A short interactive overview of the Champions Centre landing page.

Summary

I designed a commemorative 40-year anniversary narrative experience (rather than a traditional webpage) for Champions Centre to celebrates the church’s legacy while inviting continued engagement. Working within an established brand system, the goal was to create a narrative-driven experience that feels meaningful, human, and rooted in faith—while guiding users toward stories, milestones, and action.

The Challenge

The page needed to communicate 40 years of history in a way that felt engaging rather than overwhelming. It also had to balance storytelling with clear calls to action, while staying fully aligned with existing brand guidelines for color, typography, and visual style.

The Approach

I designed the experience as a guided narrative rather than a static page. The layout uses a continuous visual flow to connect past, present, and future, supported by strong imagery, structured content, and moments of interaction. Brand elements were elevated through composition, spacing, and hierarchy rather than redefined.

The Outcome

The final design transforms a large amount of content into a cohesive, emotional experience that highlights legacy, reinforces community, and encourages users to engage by sharing their story or contributing to the future.

Context & Constraints

The project required designing a single-page experience to celebrate 40 years of ministry, incorporating a large volume of content including timelines, stories, videos, and calls to action.

A key constraint was adhering to a defined brand system, including typography, color palette, and overall tone. The challenge was to create something that felt distinct and elevated without deviating from established guidelines.

Design Principles

Narrative first
The page should feel like a story unfolding, not a collection of sections.

Emotional connection
Moments of impact are driven by real people, imagery, and testimonials.

Clarity through structure
Content is organized to feel digestible despite its volume.

Flow and continuity
Visual elements guide users smoothly from one section to the next.

Elevation within constraints
The design enhances the brand through layout and interaction rather than new visual elements.

Key Design Decisions

Narrative Flow System
A continuous path-like visual element connects sections throughout the page, reinforcing the idea of a 40-year journey and guiding users through the experience.

Hero Experience
The opening combines a strong headline with real people and a commemorative badge to immediately establish both emotion and significance.

Timeline Integration
Milestones are embedded into the flow of the page rather than isolated, making the history feel integrated into the broader story.

Story-Driven Content
User stories, both written and video, are prioritized to shift the focus from the institution to the people impacted by it.

Visual Layering
Overlapping images, textures, and shapes create depth and energy while maintaining clarity.

Clear Calls to Action
Strategic placement of “Share Your Story” and “Give Today” ensures users can move from inspiration to participation.

Visual System

The design builds on the existing brand by using its color palette and typography with more expressive layout techniques. Warm imagery, layered textures, and rounded elements create a balance between structure and humanity, resulting in a design that feels both grounded and celebratory.

Outcome

The final experience successfully transforms a large and complex set of content into a cohesive narrative that honors the past while inviting future engagement. It creates emotional resonance through storytelling while maintaining clarity and usability throughout.
